SOUNDSCAN Report: P.O.D., SWORN ENEMY, SCARLET, NASUM, CATHEDRAL

In what has to considered a significant disappointment for both the band and their label, P.O.D.'s new album, "Testify" (Atlantic) has sold just over 54,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 9 on next week's The Billboard 200 chart.

"Testify" is the follow-up to "Payable on Death", which opened with 106,000 copies back in November 2003 to debut at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Other notable heavy metal/hard rock U.S. sales debuts for the week ending January 29, 2006, as reported by Nielsen SoundScan (all figures are rounded to the nearest thousand, except numbers under 1,000, which are rounded to the nearest hundred):

SWORN ENEMY – "The Beginning of the End": 2,000
SCARLET – "This Was Always Meant To Fall Apart": 1,000
NASUM - Grind Finale: 700
CATHEDRAL – "The Garden of Unearthly Delights": 400
WATERDOWN – "All Riot": 300
GOREFEST - "La Muerte": 100
